Over the last fifty years, psychotherapy and medicine have become separated over time, but at the Mind-Body Healing Center, we have brought the two disciplines back together. Mind-body healing is medicinal to the body, but it is psychologically healing.

Our clinicians are familiar with traditional therapies: cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy. But we are also intimately familiar with somatic therapy, a marriage between body and mind, so we can use cognitive behavioral therapy or psychodynamic therapy, while also weaving body awareness into it. Mental and physical therapies reinforce each other, promoting faster and more effective treatment.

Why is this helpful?

Traditional therapies are, in many ways, top-down approaches. You think it and it is absorbed into your body which subsequently affects behavior; this is cognitive-behavioral therapy. But in somatic therapy, we approach the body first, and it is a bottom-up approach. If your body feels comfortable, then your mind will feel comfortable, and it will be more likely to absorb new ideas and behavior patterns.
